Ensembles

 

The Chamber Choir is an elite group with membership gained by audition with the director. This is the touring choir that represents the college at on and off campus events.

The Wind Ensemble performs a variety of repertoire written for the modern wind ensemble. The department's premiere instrumental ensemble, this group provides music for major college convocations, presents concerts and regularly performs off campus. Membership is open, by audition, to all students.

The All-College Chorus is a large group open to all interested students without audition. The chorus performs once each semester and generally learns a larger work such as a cantata or oratorio.

The Jazz Ensemble is a full big band that performs a wide range of jazz styles from swing to latin to fusion and contemporary styles. The ensemble is by audition only, but students from all majors are encouraged to audition. Auditions will take place during the first week of classes each semester.

The Percussion Ensemble is open to all students by audition. Appearances are scheduled both on and off campus. In the spring, the Percussion Ensemble becomes The Panhandle Steel Ensemble. The group performs traditional steel band repetoire as well as original compositions and arrangements of popular tunes.

The Marching Band is our newest ensemble. The band will take the field in the Fall of 2009.

The Brass Ensemble is offered to students interested in performing brass chamber music. This ensemble performs concerts on and off campus.

The Woodwind Ensemble is a selective ensemble open by audition.

The Pep Band is open, by audition, to all students. The band performs at each home football and basketball game and tournaments.
